Sacramento was to be a rest stop but staying on a river boat sounded so cool that we did a couple nights. On our way in we stopped for some gem sluicing around Shasta (really stopped for a cave tour but that took hours). We also made a pit stop at the Olive Pit which is a restaurant and store with FREE olive tasting and olive oil tasting. Super fun. In Sacramento we hung out only in Old Town which is historical, touristy and fun. Candy shops everywhere. Children from government schools touring the area.
